First part, the gaming industry:
I’m not much of a gambler, but every once in awhile I do enjoy pressing my luck at a casino. What better way to do it then with someone else’s money. This tidbit is not about Service Sleuths, but about an assignment I came across for another company awhile back that secret shopped casinos in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington).
At the time, I was traveling in southern Oregon, so I was secret shopping in that area. Unfortunately, the casinos available were in northern Oregon and Washington, still about 300 miles away from me, so I did not get to do them. But, had I been closer, I would have been all over it!!! Here are some details about how cool these assignments were…it’s been awhile, so I am going off memory.
Shopper’s pay was $50.00 for completing the assignment plus the following reimbursements applied:
Shopper was required to eat in one of the designated restaurants located in the casino….I don’t remember the exact reimbursement, but it was probably around $50.00 to $100.00 (for two people).
Shopper was required to sit and gamble at six different tables (Black Jack, Roulette, etc.) and gamble $100.00 total between all six tables. Now, here’s how the reimbursement went for the gambling. Shopper would be reimbursed up to $100.00 in losses. For example, if shopper lost $50.00 over the six tables, they'd be reimbursed $50.00...if the shopper lost $100.00, they’d be reimbursed $100.00. Now, if the shopper wins…this is what was required…the shopper gives back to the casino the first $100.00 of winnings, and keeps the rest. How cool is that????? If you win $1,000.00, you get to keep $900.00 of it…if you lose, you get your money back….gambling doesn’t get any better than that. You can see why I would have been all over this assignment had I been closer.

Now, on to Service Sleuths….If you read my blog "Secret Shopping, Nevada," then you know you MUST be EMPLOYED, not contracted like everywhere else in the country, by a Nevada Licensed Private Investigator. There are very few companies that have this license. Service Sleuths is one of those few, and their focus for Nevada is the gaming industry.
For the rest of the world….Service Sleuth’s is an international company. They use Sassie, so I already like them (you can find my post on Sassie in “Other Secret Shopping Information"). I have also worked for Service Sleuths in the past in both 2003 and 2004, and I consider them a very good company. In addition to pay, I have received free oil changes, free toys, and free woman’s accessories by shopping some of their locations. The link is below to get to Service Sleuths. Here are the instructions once you are at their site to get to Sassie…be sure you look at the required forms (I9s, IC, etc.)
1.) Click on, “Shoppers”
2.) Click on, "Sign Up to Our Online System"
3.) Click on, “Click here to get to Sherlock Holmes New Shopper’s Sign-Up.” located to the right/middle.
4.) Click on, “New Shopper” sign up.” This will take you to Sassie.
I looked this morning, and they have 382 assignments posted over the following states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, HI (aloooha!!!) , IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, and Puerto Rico.
One last thing for everyone. At the top of their home page, there is a link for a work from home program that sounds like one of those too good to be true ideas; however, considering the resource of where I found it, I am thinking it might be legit. So, I have submitted my info to this company, and once I know what it entails for sure, I will blog it.
On to Nevada…as always, they can not post shops for this state, but this is a company Nevada shoppers can be employed with: I am posting a link for Nevada shoppers with the information for the application process. It is a detailed process to get started, and shoppers will have to first become experienced with Service Sleuths before they can shop casinos. There is a sheriff’s card required (they will pay for it upon employment) and much more for you guys. But, I’m thinking it will be good pay and good perks if you follow through with it….Good Luck!!!
